This week in period one, our co-hosts discuss all things Flames including a strange road trip with a decent record, a blowout loss, a win when they should have lost and a loss when they should have won. Oh… and also the coach resigned as a result of past sins and that might just lead to a culture change in hockey.
In the second period we talk about the Montreal Canadiens’ recent slide. Their big money goalie is looking all too human right now and we question if this is a repeat of Claude Julien’s end in Boston. Then we talk about some of the fantastic offensive campaigns that we are seeing from some of the games biggest stars.
In the third period we make some mid-season predictions on the Calder, Norris, Vezina, Rocket Richard and Hart trophies. Some of the picks may surprise you if you haven’t been following the league all that closely and some picks will be John Carlsson for the Norris.
Hey listeners! The season has come to a close and an NHL Stanley Cup Champion has been determined. Congratulations to the St. Louis Blues who played one of the most unpredictable and remarkable seasons in ages. Last place in January to first place in June!
We recorded this episode hot on the heels of game 7, so we obviously had a lot to say about the Stanley Cup Final. We break down the series, the game, and talk about the Conn Smythe Trophy.
In our next segment, we revisit the NHL awards nominees and give our final picks for the winners. This was a really fun episode to record and we hope you enjoy it.
This week we really focus in on the Stanley Cup Final and discuss how the series is going. Currently at 2-2, it is still anyone’s series. The health of the Boston Bruins is becoming an issue, particularly with Zdeno Chara going down with what has been reported in some places as a broken jaw.
We talk about the top performers on the Blues such as Ryan O’Reilly, Alex Pietrangelo and Vladimir Tarasenko.
Finally, we move on to some news and notes around the league including the impending UFA decision by Erik Karlsson and the Oilers hiring a new coach who seems a lot like the last coach.
Hey Listeners! This week we break down the World Men’s Hockey Championship. Finland beat Canada 3-1 in a frustrating gold medal final, while Russia won what I think was probably a disappointing bronze given the quality of the roster they brought to the tournament.
We talk about the performance of Flames players and complain about the Oilers as is our way.
We also talk about game 1 of the SCF, which the Bruins were able to win to gain a 1-0 series lead. Boston started slow after their long break, but once they got in gear they were easily the better team. The battle is already raging with a ton of physical play and after the whistle scrums.
Hello Listeners! We are back with another playoff episode. We take some time to review the Bruins-Hurricanes sweep, talk a little bit about Tuukka Rask, and the Bruins top line. We also reflect on the Hurricanes season and their outlook going forward.
Next we talk about the Sharks-Blues series. There was the outrageous hand pass leading to an OT goal, but that seemed to turn things around for the Blues who took over the series after that point.
Finally, we talk about the Stanley Cup Final matchup and make our predictions for who is going to win it all.
